User Manual & Support

Welcome to Urobi, an app that helps people with limited vision understand their surroundings using the camera, AI, and text‑to‑speech. This page is the official Support page for the app and answers the most common questions about using it.

1. Getting Started

  1. Install Urobi from the App Store and open it.
  2. On first launch you'll see a consent screen explaining that photos, optional voice questions, and generated descriptions are sent to our backend server for AI processing. You must accept this to use the app.
  3. No account, sign-in, or API key is required. Every device automatically receives a free credit grant (about 12 image analyses) the first time it connects to our server.
  4. Point the camera at what you'd like described and tap one of the two main buttons:

2. Features

FeatureWhat it does
DescribeTakes a photo and produces a short, natural-language description, spoken aloud.
Scan TextReads any visible text aloud (OCR-style, powered by the AI vision model).
Follow‑Up questionsAfter a description, ask a spoken follow-up question (e.g. "What color is it?") and get a spoken answer, using the same photo as context.
Siri ShortcutSay "Hey Siri, Describe with Urobi" to trigger a description hands-free.
Voice outputChoose between the on-device iOS voice or higher-quality AI voices in Settings.
LanguageResponses automatically match your device's language (English/German and others).
